Meet Rebekah A. Frimpong

Rebekah A. Frimpong is a poet, filmmaker, curator, and community activist.  She writes freestyle verse poetry and songs.  Rebekah has been writing since the age of 14 years old when she wrote her first monologue which was written in memory of a dear family friend who passed away.  Rebekah finds writing poetry both therapeutic and spiritual. By the age of 17, Rebekah had written over 40 poems and won two awards for her poetry.  She currently reads at open mics in Virginia, Washington DC, New York, and in Africa.  Through her travels and experiences her poetry reveals her unique view of the world.  Rebekah reports that her poems come to her in her sleep through her dreams.  She has to date written 80 poems and recently published "My Relation to the Sun" a book of poetry and photography in the memory of her beloved late mother in 2014.  The book will include notes on life, her experiences, original poems, and her photography.
