An Introduction to How Nice I am

Seeker
By Rebekah Frimpong

If it is love you are looking for don't follow that kite named ambition
let go of the strings
not letting the wind guide you as it may
stop waiting for your fairytale to unfold
greet reality often served cold
with open wide arms

for love does not wait or chart a predictable path
the journey through life proves this true
let your feet keep moving as to mimic the rhythm of your heart
those visions your eyes see are not just dreams
focus your destiny with precision
calculating each decision for death waits for no one
so start living now

if it is love you seek remember your life jacket
helmet and seat belt; strap in
ride the ride of uncontrollable sequences
navigate through emotions like a ship on an open sea

realize becoming whole means you will fall apart
at the seams to be stitched back together
just in time for reaching the finish line

to love is to see or hear
not planned
love is a whisper carried in the wind
slipping between fingers as water does
precious

I waited for love on the doorstep of an empty house
rang the bell to let my presence be known
and got no answer
loosen my grip on the strings of the kite named ambition
the kite drifted far away
Pages turned in a new chapter

hidden like treasure
loves whereabouts a mystery
in layers of guilt and shame I found the missing pieces
love did not press pause on mistakes, regrets, and moments wished forgotten
as my tears dried up
so did the pain festering
love had borrowed time making the minutes and seconds valuable

love laid within.
